Outer Banks season three has finally arrived on Netflix, and the social media excitement about the latest season is louder than ever. The netflix show grew to popularity over the coronavirus pandemic when it premiered in April of 2020. The Outer Banks phenomenon began and everyone became obsessed with the show’s action, drama and overall love story between the characters.

For those who haven’t watched the show, Outer Banks follows a ragtag group of friends- the Pogues, and the main character, John B (played by Chase Stokes). John B needs help finding his father and goes on a treacherous journey for his dad while looking for the fable treasure his dad always talked about. John B enlists the help of his fellow friends the Pogues.

Throughout the first episode, the Pogues are faced with the reality that they’re probably going to be stuck on the island they have named Poguelandia. Suddenly, luck strikes when a mysterious plane flys over the island and spots them after the Pogues start a signal fire. However, everything is not what it seems. The hero in the plane turns out to be someone hired to find them. The Pogues theorize that it could be Sarah’s Ward coming to kill John and the other Pogues.

Madelyn Cline recently sat down with Screen Rant to discuss the treasure search theme of the last two seasons.

“I think that’s kind of the common thread,” Cline said. I think that’s the touchstone for all of our characters, but I think it’s the friendship and relationships that hold it all together. So, that’s obviously still a major theme.”

Another major theme of this season is the relationship between John B and Sarah. The couple struggle to find their chemistry throughout the drama of season three. This is art imitating life for Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline, who dated then broke up during Nov. 2021 only months before filming season three.

Stokes spoke with ExtraTV about him and Cline working together since their split.

“I mean, prior to Maddy and I having any personal relationship it was always about the show and it’s always gonna be about the show,” Stokes said. “I’m always gonna be (Cline’s) biggest fan inside the show and outside the show and she’s been an incredible scene partner to work with and hopefully we get to continue to tell the story.”

Outer Banks season three has plenty of drama and action. Jonathan Daviss also spoke with ExtraTV about the newest season.

“They really upped the stakes from the first episode to the last episode, you know, the writers, the showrunner, the director,” Daviss said. “They were all like, how do we take a show that’s already pretty action-packed and high stakes and over intensify it? They found a way.”

Outer Banks season three is out on Netflix and is full of action, excitement, twists and turns. Will the Pogues ultimately overcome the odds and get the treasure at the end? Tune in to find out.
